These are very testing times for almost every business in almost every industry globally. Square Events, with no events happening until after the summer, have taken the decision to furloughing most of the team. Read on to understand why and get an update on what they have been up to.

Ahead of this time we postponed every single event from mid-March – June. Ahead of lockdown this involved a lot of negotiation as the hotels were understandably reluctant to postpone contracted events. Even after lockdown some venue groups still attempted to enforce contract terms resulting in many hours of discussions. Matt worked extremely hard to secure favourable results for scores of Lodges although unfortunately the reward was the necessity of furlough.

We did receive some lovely feedback from one of the Lodges which I would like to share with you:

‘All sorted thank you, deposit refunded. Without your assistance in this we would have been in a dark place, we are extremely grateful for your help in getting this resolved, I would not hesitate to use Square Events again.’

I am looking forward to welcoming the team back in the very near future as I have been working every hour possible looking after Square Events as well as my other businesses Brief2Event and The Christmas Party People. Square Events may be quiet but incredibly people are still booking conferences, Key Worker accommodation, and Christmas parties.

Matt has been keeping himself busy home schooling his 7-year-old daughter as well as looking after his 2-year-old boy. In his ‘spare’ time he has celebrated a birthday, worked hard in the garden, and completed an Open University course.

Liv has been ‘stuck’ at home with her Mum and Dad. She has been getting fit and learning to bake (not sure she saw the irony in this!) as well as walking the dog, FaceTiming friends, and doing online quizzes.

In closing I wanted to thank you all for your previous custom and hope we can be of service to you again when this horrible situation is behind us.

If we can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to get in touch either by phone on 01202 400855, email at [email protected] or just click here to place an enquiry.
